SMART REWARDS TERMS and CONDITIONS (“Terms”)
The SMART Rewards Program (“Program”), which allows subscribers of individual SMART Gold, SMART Buddy and SMART Bro accounts to redeem SMART Points accumulated through specified transactions of their Accounts, shall be governed by the following Terms, including any amendment available at the website www.smart.com.ph/rewards.
In these Terms:
- “Account” refers to the individual SMART Gold, SMART Buddy or SMART Bro Account eligible to the Program as specified in these Terms.
- “Change-of-MIN” refers to a change of the Subscriber’s current MIN to a new MIN usually but not limited to cases of loss or damage to the current MIN. The current MIN will be purged after the Change-of-MIN process.
- “GSM” refers to a SMART Gold or SMART Buddy Account.
- “Mechanics” refers to the Program mechanics detailed in the Rewards Materials.
- “MIN” refers to the GSM Subscriber’s mobile identification number or cellular phone number or to the SMART Bro Plug-It Subscriber’s SIM number.
- “Partner Merchants” refer to the Partner Merchants offering discounts and/or free items to a Registered Account under the Program.
- “Points” refer to the SMART Points earned through usage of the Account as specified in these Terms and Mechanics.
- “Registered Account” refers to an Account registered to the Program.
- “Rewards” refers to the goods and services described in the Rewards Materials.
- “Rewards Materials” refers to merchandising materials such as the Rewards flyers, Partner Merchant catalog, the Program website (www.smart.com.ph/rewards), etc. containing a list of available Rewards, discount coupons, and Program mechanics.
- “SMART” refers to SMART Communications, Inc. and SMART Broadband, Inc.
- “SRN” refers to the SMART Bro Postpaid Subscriber’s service reference number.
- “Subscriber” refers to the Account holder on record.
1.1. The Program is open to individual/residential Account holders of SMART Gold, SMART Buddy and SMART Bro.
1.2. SMART Infinity, Talk ‘n Text, Red Mobile, service units and corporate accounts are not eligible under the Program.
1.3. Retailer transactions i.e. pasaload, etc. are also not eligible under the Program.
1.4. Registration in the Program is free as defined in the Mechanics.
1.5. By registering in the Program, the Subscriber agrees, allows and consents that SMART will send SMS and/or email alerts on related content such as points earned and other promos from SMART and its Partner Merchants.
1.6. GSM Registered Subscribers can opt out from receiving notifications on earned points and other SMS alerts by sending REWARDS OFF to 9800.
2.1. All Accounts, whether or not registered in the Program, will earn points as defined in the Mechanics.
2.2. Bucket packages such as unlitext packages that require mobile registration do not earn points. However bucket packages that are availed via retailer purchases shall be awarded with points based on Suggested Retail Price.
2.3. GSM Specific:
a. Value-Added Services (“VAS”). VAS transactions that are eligible to earn points include: MMS content and MMS messaging, Mobile browsing and other SMS registration offers.
b. International Direct Dialing services (“IDD”). IDD transactions that are eligible to earn points include: SMS, Voice calls and Fax/Data sent to an international number.
2.4. Additional Points-Earning Activities
Occasionally, SMART may initiate programs for points-generation subject to these Terms and Conditions and, unless otherwise stated, to the Terms and Conditions of each program.
2.5. Points are non-convertible to cash or credit and may not be transferred to any other Account except in Change-in-MIN transactions. Any changes in the MIN do not affect the points earned in the same Account.
2.6. Transfer of SMART Points from a permanently disconnected Account is not allowed.
3.1. SMART Points are treated as a conditional reward wherein the allocation of the points is provided for use only when:
a. Account transactions are within the transaction defined by the Mechanics and these Terms and Conditions
b. Points are redeemed within the redemption period as defined in item 3.3.
SMART reserves the right to expire and/or declare as void any points that do not meet the conditions above.
3.2. Points earned are detailed in the Statement of Accounts for Postpaid Accounts - SMART Gold and SMART Bro Postpaid and Prepaid, and available at the SMART WebConnect site (www.smart.com.ph/connect). GSM Accounts can also request for an update of their points via an SMS pull request as indicated in the Mechanics. Unless SMART receives a written notice 20 days from bill delivery date, points detailed in the Statement of Account and in Web Connect are considered correct and final.
3.3. For non-Registered Accounts, points are valid for six (6) months from the month the points are earned. For Registered Accounts, points are valid for up to twelve (12) months. Points should be used within the prescribed duration otherwise such shall be expired at the end of the validity period, and will no longer be available for redemption. Example:
For Non-Registered Accounts, unused points earned on January 21, 2010 will expire six months after (July 2010).
For Registered Accounts, unused points earned on January 21, 2010 will expire twelve months after (January 2011).
3.4. SMART may, at its own discretion, inform the Subscriber of the status of their Points. It is the responsibility of the Subscriber to keep track of his/her earned Points as detailed in 3.2 and the expiration of such points as detailed in 3.3.
3.5. SMART reserves the right to suspend or exclude Subscribers from the Program if:
a. in its opinion the Subscriber has breached the Terms of Conditions of the Program or the Terms and Conditions
of their Account.

b. in its opinion the Subscriber conducts his Account not in accordance with the nature and intent of The Program, such as but not limited to misrepresentation, defamation, slanderous and libelous remarks.
3.6. Permanent deactivation of a Subscriber’s account will forfeit all earned Points for the Account. In case of a re-activation of a permanently deactivated Account, accumulation of Points will start from zero (0) and the Subscriber must re-register anew in the Program.
3.7. All acts of fraud and abuse relating to the earning and/or use of Points in The Program may result in the forfeiture of Points.
3.8. SMART reserves the right to settle any disputes concerning the eligibility to The Program, points earning and redemption, and other aspects of The Program at its own discretion.
4.1. SMART periodically issue Rewards Materials detailing the Mechanics for item redemptions and other information about the Program.
4.2. Points can only be used to redeem of items indicated in the Rewards Materials.
4.3. Points earned from a particular brand cannot be used to redeem items for a different brand (e.g. SMART Buddy Points cannot be used to redeem of P50 bill rebates for a SMART Gold Account).
4.4. Points are non-refundable and non-convertible to cash or credit. Redemption requests, once received by SMART, cannot be cancelled.
5.1. General Terms
a. SMART may, from time to time and on its own discretion, release Rewards Materials which detail discount coupons from Partner Merchants available for download.
b. Subscribers can view a complete and updated list of participating Partner Merchants at the Program website (www.smart.com.ph/rewards).
c. Partner Merchant offers are provided by SMART “as is”. Each Partner Merchant offer is offered by the participating Partner Merchants themselves and Inquiries and/or complaints regarding a particular Partner Merchant offer shall be addressed to the Partner Merchants.
d. Only Registered Accounts can avail of discount coupons from Partner Merchants.
5.2. Mobile Coupons:
a. SMART Gold and SMART Buddy Registered Accounts can download mobile discount coupons to their mobile phones as defined in the Rewards Materials.
b. Coupon downloads do not require SMART Points.
c. Browsing for available discount coupons by sending DISCOUNTS to 9800 is free however, every successful coupon download from texting COUPON <Partner Merchant code> to 9800 costs P1.00. Failed and invalid transactions also cost P1.00.
d. Downloaded mobile coupon is valid only on the day the mobile coupon is downloaded however the Subscriber can download a mobile coupon multiple times within the Partner Merchant offer’s validity period.
5.3. Electronic Coupons:
a. SMART Bro Subscribers can download an electronic coupon to their computers for printing via WebConnect (www.smart.com.ph/connect).
b. The use of electronic coupons shall be governed by the Terms and Conditions of the E-Coupons feature found at the WebConnect site and/or at the Program website.
